Can I use the service to promote my own goods and services?
While the law says you can’t “place” products inside TV shows as a closet form of advertising, businesses can certainly act as suppliers to a show or feature as experts.
Can I ask a production company to pay me a fee?
Yes. You are acting as a supplier to the show.
Can I pay production companies to place my product or service inside a programme?
At the moment, the Communications Act doesn’t permit product placement within commercial channels. The same is true on the BBC through its Charter and various policies.
Can I insist that my logo is clearly visible and in shot?
You can certainly ask the producer as products or services can feature in programmes if they are editorially justified. To avoid the risk of product placement, you will need to give producers editorial freedom to determine the circumstances when this is possible.
Can you help broker a deal with a TV production company or supplier for me?
To keep your costs down, we don’t get in the way of any commercial deal you enter.
